David Gauntlett is a Canada research chair at the creative school in Toronto metropolitan university and is an acting director of the innovation studio. He have produce many books, events, projects and blogs.

The project called ‘LEGO workshop for PhD students’: David worked with LEGO group in Denmark at 2005 to focus on “developing version of the consultancy process, LEGO serious play, for purpose beyond its initial business consultancy application.”(Gauntlett, 2014). In 2008-2013, David was a head member of the LEGO Learning institute and work closely with the institute directors and colleagues from the universities of Cambridge, Edinburgh and MIT to produce reports and materials. David’s knowledges of creative methods and experiences as a PhD supervisor to help the PhD students at the LEGO workshop in the University of Bristol. The workshop is to help them to reflect on their research, communication their ideas and to collaborate or to inspire others. Use LEGO serious play which is a creative process to supports the participants to learn how to build representations of their own ideas or experiences in LEGO. It is entertaining and fun way for them to share their thoughts, collaborates and reflect on their experiences or working practices. The workshop is led by professional David Gauntlett and it is a social research for David to learn.



Luise Vormittag is an illustrator, designer, researcher, writer and educator. Her practice-led research are mainly focus on the nexus of images-making, community and place. Luise often collaborate with the community groups on the project that centre on articulate and visualise their joint concerns and perspectives.

The project called ‘Cracks in the Pavement’: Luise collaborates with 24 East London residents to walked around the shared routes over a period of six months. The resulted are the five separate physical collaborative maps of different areas of Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Islington. Each participant walked on the similar paths at different times, noting their thoughts, ideas and observations on a share paper, that will be passed onto the next participant. “Adding to and expanding upon their predecessors’ notes drawings and observations so that the map grew in complexity with each contributor.”(Vormittag, 2021) The project was happened during at the Covid-19 lockdown and the results make Luise feel close with her neighbours in the share neighbourhood. “Using your senses, noting your connections and pointing each other to the cracks in the pavement”(Vormittag, 2021).
